An information design company based in Johannesburg, South Africa
For design to be blue-blooded and elegant with spontaneous bursts of expression
As an activist for change, we focus on projects that challenge the status quo
PR/NS Design is an information design company based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Through our work we develop and communicate various arts and culture events and movements; create campaigns about causes such as children’s rights and HIV/Aids; promote creative thinking; use design as a way to foster academic thought; and advertise various talks, seminars, and exhibitions of the established and the up-and-coming.
We focus on design that challenges the status quo – design that can make a difference by bringing about awareness and, hopefully, change. Our design style can best be described as articulate, elegant and informative. The tone of the work is dictated by the client’s needs and the objectives of the project.
We’ve also worked on many books, including the layout, art direction and production of The Art of the Idea, written by John Hunt and published by Publishers Powerhouse Books, New York. World-famous artist Sam Nhlengethwa did the illustrations. We also facilitated the exhibition for Nhlengethwa’s work. Other books include Messages & Meaning: The MTN Art Collection; Light On The Hill: Building The Constitutional Court Of South Africa; and William Kentridge Prints.
Off paper, on-site we’ve done inner city beautification projects, created interior and exterior colour palettes for new urban development projects in the Ethiopian district of Johannesburg, have been commissioned to design artworks for public transport and bus stations and created an identity and a website for advocacy groups such as Regional Advocacy Network for Children. Popular poster series include work for the University of Witwatersrand and the Centre for Indian Studies in Africa.
PR/NS Design is headed by Adéle Prins, an award-winning designer and creator. Work has been inspired by cities, books, music, art and design. Collaboration is key to many of the projects and the outcomes. Work has been commissioned and created for both local and international clients.
